Installing the Client Program (Required)

You can install ADSM directly from the server CD-ROM.

Installing from CD-ROM (NetWare 4.1x)

  1. Insert the installation media into the proper drive.
  2. Mount the CD volume using the CDROM.NLM utility supplied by Novell.
  3. Load the NetWare Server Installation routine, INSTALL.NLM.
  4. Select "Product options" and press Enter.
  5. Select "Install a product not listed" and press Enter.
  6. Press F3 to specify :X\ADSMCLI\NTW where X is the drive of the mounted CD-ROM.
  7. Specify the component or components you wish to install:
  8. Press F10 to start the installation.
Note:If you attempt to use INSTALL.NLM to remove the components, product records will be deleted from the database; however, product files will not be deleted.

Manual Installation (NetWare 3.1x, 4.1x)

  1. Insert the installation media into the proper drive.
  2. Mount the CD volume using the CDROM.NLM utility supplied by Novell.
  3. Flag old versions of ADSM product files +rw on server a.
  4. CD to the old installation directory, usually SYS:\ADSM
  5. FLAG *.* +RW.
  6. Copy files from the CD-ROM:ADSMCLI\NTW directory and subdirectories into a single installation directory on the server.

    Copy all ADSM NEtWare client files from the \ADSMCLI\NTW\ADSM and \ADSMCLI\NTW\COMMON directories.

    Copy all ADSM NEtWare API files from the \ADSM\NTW\API and \ADSMCLI\NTW\COMMON directories. The API client also has sample files in \ADSMCLI\NTW\API\SAMPLE.

  7. Flag .NLM and .TXT files to RO SH in the installation directory
